New Yarn Joy

I don't really have much to offer in terms of stunning insights (not that you're really reading my blog for those) or knitting tips, or tricks or anything of the sort - I just thought I would share you with some pretty pictures of some new yarn: Rico Design Superba Poems in Tropical. I picked this up in Wool in Bath when I was there - it's now a lovely pair of long and cosy socks, but I really loved these pictures I took when it was all wound up.

The weird thing is, I'm really a truth goth at heart, never growing out of my pre-teen emo days, the majority of my clothes are monochrome, with odd splashes of navy, brown or oxblood creeping in - however when it comes to socks, I go mad, and just want anything fluorescent, multicoloured, pastel and bright.

Anyway, I'll show you the socks I made soon enough, but I've really been lusting after all kinds of new yarns since I put myself on a self imposed yarn ban, which I might save a discussion around for another post, however it just means I've been pinning all kinds of lovely yarn... Look at that beautiful brown and blue-grey one below: be still my heart.

Sublime Yarns - Luxurious Aran Tweed

I bought these skeins a while back on sale from Hobbycraft, they're such amazing colours but I haven't thought of anything to make with them, yet. They're super bright in real life, both of them have colour from the other running through it, which I think is really cool. I'm not sure what to make from it - I'm thinking perhaps a cowl, as I've had Cupido sitting in my favourites for a few days and I keep going back to it, I really love the stitch pattern. (I have a Honey Cowl queued too - but I'm saving that for a another yarn..)  I'm not sure how I'd incorporate the two colours, though, perhaps with a purple border? I don't want to make a hat, though, I have a hundred of them and I don't need any more at the moment... Let me know if you have any suggestions for patterns, I'd love to hear them!

appletini

Just a quick post from me today, showing you something I am most excited about - some new yarn I picked up at Unravel today (it's on tomorrow if you're in the Farnham area or want something to do). I bought a few bits and bobs, but not the main thing I went there for (to see Alafoss for some Lopi wool for a sweater) because they didn't have a giant selection, but the stalls there that I wanted to see were amazing. I knew I wanted to look at Purlesence, Easyknits.co.uk and Fyberspates - and I think I got something from all of them. Good stuff! This caught my eye as soon as I saw it - a lime green 4-ply superwash merino yarn from Easyknits.co.uk, in Appletini. I got out my haul when I got home and this was practically glowing in the sun it was that bright - I can't wait to knit some socks with it!
